Phaedra Brody is an Australian and Scottish photographer. She studied literature at the Sorbonne and taught herself photography as a means of self-expression. Brody’s photographs are highly stylized and somewhat detached like a dream just beyond reach. Her subjects are usually alone, sometimes aloof, but more often alien to their surroundings. There is a strong sense of isolation, even in Brody’s fashion work and portraits, that has a strength and confidence uncommon today.
