Milo Manara is a master of comic illustration. Born in Italy in 1945, Manara studied painting and architecture at university. In 1969 he made his comics debut drawing for Genius, a series of pocket books from publisher Furio Vanio. He worked on many horror, western, and romance comics throughout the 1970s. By the 1980s Manara had become known for his erotic comics, especially the Click series where elegant, beautiful women get caught up in unlikely and fantastical erotic scenarios.
Manara is one of the greatest living European comic artists. He is who he is: elegant, obsessed with sex, and without pretense or hidden agenda. A pinup artist who is capable of producing absolutely stunning images of his iconic Italian women.

A truck driver doesn’t hang a Rauschenberg or Jasper Johns painting in his cab; he puts up a nice pin-up. To my pin-ups I owe the fact that I can still entertain and be close to people: soldiers, truck drivers, prisoners… Milo Manara
