Bernard Bertrand is a French photographer who grew up fascinated with the magic of the entire silver-based photographic process. From a young age, he jumped at the chance to assist his father, a print journalist, in the darkroom and immersed himself in traditional analog photography.
After studying photography at university, Bertrand moved to Paris to be near the best international photographers. Once there, he quickly became one of the assistants of Jean-Baptiste Mondino and formed a part of his team for nearly 3 years.
Bertrand is as captivated with cinema as photography and cites as inspirations Ingmar Bergman, Vittorio De Sica, David Lynch, Tim Burton, and Francis Ford Coppola. Directing remains one of his major targets.
